Troy Miller served in the U.S. Navy from 1990-1995 as 1st Lieutenant, Ordnance Officer and Legal Officer on the USS Reuben James. “Leading and coaching young enlisted men to look beyond their time in the Navy and giving a sort of internal compass to become more,” is what Troy said when asked about his most memorable moments during his military career. His most memorable and favorite assignment was the opportunity to be stationed in Hawaii during the observances of the 50th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.
As Co-Owner of Mosquito Hunters, Troy considers himself blessed to be living the American Dream. “I served my country for 5 years after graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy. I followed this by working for the same company for 20 years and working my way up the corporate ladder in various sales roles. During this time, I always had a desire to run my own company so that I could practice great leadership, mentor young kids, and serve the local community. My business partner and good friend, Brian Gore, and I started up Mosquito Hunters because it offered us a young, fun-branded franchise passionate about putting customer first and delivering on the promises we make.”
In his spare time, Troy loves our close proximity to explore the mountains or the ocean, but is especially fond of enjoying Lake Norman, golfing, hiking, and biking. However, come college football season—watch out! According to Troy, “We say there is only one real football game each year, the Army Navy game. This is the greatest college football rivalry where each team’s respect for each other is unparalleled. Go Navy, Beat Army!”
