Did you know “Infantry (11B)” is the main land combat force and is considered the backbone of the U.S. Army?  And that is exactly the position Corporal (CPL) Trey Strickland honorably served in for over four years.  As an Infantry Team Leader, he was responsible for defending our country against any threat by land, as well as capturing, destroying and repelling enemy ground forces.  During his career, Trey served on two tours to Iraq (Baghdad ‘06-07 and Diyala Province ‘08-09).  “My most memorable experience while deployed was conducting a hostage rescue mission with Green Berets during an intense firefight.”

While Trey said his favorite assignment was Germany, his most memorable military moment occurred in Rome, Italy.  “As a lifelong history buff and a small-town Carolina boy there was a surreal feeling of being 20-years old and standing in front The Coliseum.  Plus, it’s where I met my wife!”

Upon transitioning from the Army, Trey has switched gears as a very successful Mortgage Loan Officer with Movement Bank.  “I love my job because it allows me to guide people through the biggest purchase of their lives and put their minds at ease. It is especially rewarding when your clients are military veterans or the families of veterans. I have learned that life is too short to not love  what you’re doing.  And, when you love what you are doing and it has a positive impact on others—the sky is the limit!”

As a NC native, Trey loves the Lake Norman community. “I have always loved coming here whether it was in the summertime out on the boat or just grabbing a meal at one of the local restaurants on the lake in the fall. There’s never a bad time to be at the lake!”
