RAINY DAY IN LAKE NORMAN

What To Do On a Rainy Day in Lake Norman?

On average, the Lake Norman (LKN) area boasts well over 225 days of sunshine each year.  And, with 520 miles of shoreline and 33 miles long, there is a lot of territory to explore on a sunny day.  Most residents here enjoy year-round, “lake life” activities whether it’s boating, fishing, kayaking or just jumping off the end of the dock for a good ‘ol swim!  However, 2018 was a peculiar year for precipitation as we saw record amounts of rainfall.  So, what’s there to do when it’s raining?  Well, how about changing your “lake life” perspective and exploring what lives IN our lake?!

Change Your “Lake Life” Perspective

When you think of “lake life,” you typically think of all the relaxing activities you can do on, in or near the lake.  But, what about all of the activity that is going on UNDER the lake’s surface?!  You might be surprised to learn that within minutes is an aquarium.  The “SEA LIFE Charlotte-Concord Aquarium” is conveniently located off I-485 in Concord Mills.  This completely indoor aquarium is perfect for a rainy day where you can explore little creatures that you might find in Lake Norman to the fresh waters of the Catawba River in the Blue Ridge Mountains and to the salt waters of the Atlantic Ocean and beyond.

Affordable Fun While Staying Dry

We were pleasantly surprised to find SEA LIFE offers a variety of discounted rates of admission.  As a retired military couple, we greatly appreciated the veteran discount!  Next time it rains, consider changing your “lake life” perspective and explore SEA LIFE!
